Dancing in the Nympheas

Dance in the Nympheas invites audiences to unique evening events that explore the richness of modern and contemporary dance heritage, placed in a new context — that of Monet’s Water Lilies rooms — and in dialogue with the choreographic expressions of today’s generation.

From celebration to protest, in a shared language, nine performers embody an atlas of images of gatherings collected over the past decade by choreographer Joanne Leighton. This score of universal gestures is interwoven with a soundscape composed by Peter Crosbie, featuring brass bands, percussion, celebratory songs, and speeches by figures such as Martin Luther King and Greta Thunberg. A powerful and moving dance that celebrates the collective.
