Traces is a nomadic, jubilant journey, embracing the founding gesture of walking. The steps are juxtaposed, interwoven and intermingled, like the precise parts of a player piano, for a score of nuances and relief that creates a new relationship with the body and space. Inspired by geometric systems and the Fibonacci mathematical sequence, linked to the golden ratio, the choreographic phrases trace out curves, circles and spirals ; they repeat, respond and free themselves, creating new forms.
The multitude of possible combinations and relational qualities leaves our imaginations free to interpret whatever links the dancers : challenge, solidarity, seduction, indifference or chance encounters.
The music takes as its starting point the percussive sound of the steps. As with the movement, the musical elements are constantly evolving, both in themselves and in relation to other elements. As the music progresses, it leaves its own trace, with echoes and fragments returning in their original or transformed form.
